THE PERKS OF GETTING MARRIED IN ITALY

  • Whether you’re on the waters in the Amalfi Coast, Lake Como or Lake Garda, nestled in the historic cities of Rome or Florence, or in the rolling countryside of Tuscany, you will be enveloped in breathtaking scenery that almost feels effortless.

  • A country that’s renowned for it’s romance, art, history and timeless beauty, Italy naturally makes for a beautiful backdrop for a wedding.

With stunning architecture often taking centre stage, surrounded by manicured gardens, it’s ideal for a wedding both inside and out.

  • As lovers of ‘la dolce vita’ and known for their impeccable fresh food and wine, weddings become long lazy lunches, where food is shared in abundance.

  • Italy’s typically warm and sunny climate means that wedding ceremonies, drinks and receptions al fresco are more likely to happen.

  • From incredible luxury villas perched on the waters of Lake Como and boutique hotel terraces on the coast of Amalfi, to rustic vineyards and historic palaces, there are endless possibilities for wedding venues.

THE NEED TO KNOWS

  • LEGAL REQUIREMENTS

The easiest option is a civil ceremony, which is legally binding. For a religious wedding, various paperwork is required to be submitted to the local Town Hall.

  • PEAK SEASON

Peak season is June - August, due to the long sunny days, however it can be very hot. Shoulder seasons between April - June and September - October are milder and more comfortable, and better value.

  • WEATHER

Summers can be very hot, so always have a back up plan for outdoor weddings, be it plenty of shade or moments of the wedding happening inside.

  • TRAVEL LOGISTICS

Ideally choose a venue within 1-2 hours of a major airport keep travel as easy as possible for guests.

  • AIR TRAVEL

    UK - Northern Italy: Averages 2 hours / UK - Central Italy: Averages 2 - 2.5 hours / South Italy and Islands: 2.5 - 3.5 hours

  • VENUE RESTRICTIONS

Historic venues will often have rules such as noise limitations, decor restrictions and curfews.

  • PRICES

While some elements are cheaper than the UK, popular locations like Lake Como can be very high-end.

  • LANGUAGE DIFFERENCES

Not all officials or suppliers speak fluent English, especially in smaller towns. In these cases it’s best to hire a wedding planner to co-ordinate on your behalf.
