Secret Spa’s Ultimate Wedding Beauty Timeline

The most organised of brides begin their beauty preparation six months before the big day.

If you’re unaccustomed to getting a full range of beauty treatments, starting a regime in this busy time can be daunting.

Here London’s luxury mobile beauty app, Secret Spa, offers their comprehensive beauty timeline to ensure you look your best on the happiest (and most beautiful) day of your life.

6 months before

  • Brows: Begin growing out your brows with the help of a Secret Spa brow expert.

  • Facials: Your natural skin cycle is six weeks and it can take a few cycles to get your skin clear and glowing so we recommend booking a consultation with a Secret Spa facialist now to settle on a bespoke facial regime.

  • Hair: Think about your desired hair style and begin working towards the right length, colour and finish. You may want to invest in some professional shampoo and conditioner to get it in a luxurious condition.

4-5 months before

  • Hair & make-up: Book a make-up and hair consultation with a Secret Spa therapist to begin to create your bespoke wedding look. You will be able to trial different make-up and hair styles until you find the perfect one for you.

  • Spray tans: Have a practice spray tan a couple of days before your make-up trial so your make-up artist can work with the colour you’ll be on the day. If you don’t normally get spray tans, it could be worth booking two appointments (at least a week apart) to try a couple of different brands/colours to find the one that suits you. Secret Spa can advise on the best for your skin type and desired look.

2-3 months before

  • Lashes: It’s a good time to think about the eyelashes you’d like to have on the big day. If you’re looking for a natural look, perhaps invest in a serum to lengthen and thicken your lashes ready for a simple coat of mascara. If you’d like more volume, start experimenting with lash lift & tints or eyelash extensions. Secret Spa can advise on the best treatment for you.

  • Nails: Get your hands and feet into perfect condition by booking in regular manicures and pedicures. If you intend to have polish on your wedding day then start trying out the colours now so you can settle on the perfect one for you.

  • Skin: Ensure your skin looks its very best by boosting your facials to once every 2-3 weeks (if recommended by your Secret Spa facialist).

  • Teeth: Some brides undergo teeth whitening using either a professional treatment or at-home kits to ensure they are as pearly white as their dress.

1 month before

  • Make-up: Have a final makeup trial to check the style you’ve decided on still fits how you want to feel on your wedding. If you are doing it yourself, then make sure you practise.

2 weeks before

  • Hair: Have a final trim and colour to prepare your hair for looking its best.

  • Facial: Have your final pre-wedding facial around two weeks before the big day to avoid breakouts or irritation on the day.

1 week before

  • Skin: While we don’t advocate dieting, there are certain foods that can cause puffiness and redness. Try to limit the amount of salt, sugar, alcohol and bread in your diet.

  • Lashes: If you’re going for a lash lift & tint or eyelash extensions book these in for one week before to ensure they last throughout your wedding and honeymoon.

  • Brows: get a final brow tidy (and tint if you like) and try to avoid changing the shape at this stage.

  • Survival kit: Gather any beauty accessories you will need for the day including lipstick, kirby grips, powder, paracetamol and blister plasters to pop in your bag on the day.

3 days before

  • Hair removal: Now is a good time to book in any waxes that you may want before the big day. Getting your waxes at home is by far the most comfortable way if you are having a long session.

  • Nails: It’s time for your final manicure and pedicure. We recommend booking gel polish (Shellac) on your hands and feet to avoid fear of chipping and last throughout the honeymoon.

  • Hydrate: Make sure to drink lots of water to keep the skin hydrated.

  • Skin: Give yourself a good body scrub all over to remove any dead skin leaving you with a flawless base.

2 days before

  • Spray tan: If you’re going for a tan, book it two days before the wedding after any nail or hair removal treatments, and make sure you book the same brand and shade from your practice runs.

The day before

  • Skin: Leave your skin alone, even if you’ve had any nervous breakouts. Make-up artists can easily cover an under the skin spot, but broken skin can be harder.

  • Hair: Wash and condition your hair as normal, prepping it for its styling tomorrow.

  • Nails: Apply generous amounts of hand and foot cream as well as cuticle oil.
